Jan Hoek & Bobbin Case

Dutch photographer Jan Hoek and Uganda born, Nairobi-based fashion designer Bobbin Case worked together on the project ‘Boda Boda Madness’. In the busy city of Nairobi, motortaxi drivers add striking features to their vehicle to strengthen their appeal to customers, turning them into artworks on wheels. Their colorful appearances caught the attention of Jan Hoek and Bobbin Case, who soon realized that the drivers forgot about their own outfit in the creation process. So they picked seven motortaxi drivers and together designed special outfits that matched their motors. Jan Hoek photographed them in the Kenyan landscape, following his usual method of involving his models in the process, letting them decide how they wish to be pictured.
